The Pokémon TCG is coming to your iPhone soon. Nintendo announced that an official Pokémon TCG Pocket app is launching on the iOS App Store at the end of October. The app lets you collect digital cards, build decks, and battle with friends. And it looks pretty great.

StandBy Mode was introduced to us with the release of iOS 17. It gave the iPhone this passive but dynamic viewing mode when charging and in landscape mode. It can be used as a clock, to see the weather, as a hub for the Home app, or to help avoid distraction. I personally think this is a stepping stone to some sort of HomeOS-type interface for future products. But as it stands today, it is still very useful, especially once you start to customize it with third-party widgets. So here are some of my favorites!

Apple Cash is a popular and easy way to send money right within the iOS Messages app and soon with just a tap. Until now, you haven’t needed to submit an ID to use parts of the feature. That will change for many users as Apple will require identity verification starting in October for sending more than a total of $500 across all transactions – including past ones.

Something rings true about Apple’s catchphrase for Apple Intelligence: ‘AI for the rest of us.’ AI can do some really impressive (and problematic) things. But sometimes it’s the boring, practical improvements that are actually most useful. For example, every day ‘the rest of us’ endure the tedious task of notification management. And in iOS 18.1, Apple has made notifications so much better thanks to AI summaries.
