I’m fortunate enough to be in Cupertino this week for WWDC. For me, things kicked off on Sunday, when I had the honor of visiting Apple Park to watch a selection of this year’s Swift Student Challenge Distinguished Winners present their apps to Apple executives.

Today’s the day! WWDC 2025 officially kicks off this morning with an Apple Keynote. The company is expected to debut iOS 26 with the biggest redesign in over a decade, along with updates to the Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro.

Ahead of WWDC kicking off on Monday, a new report from Bloomberg dives into the details of what to expect from Apple’s software overhauls. In particular, the report sheds new light on the major redesign coming as part of iOS 26, which is set to be the biggest revamp to the platform since iOS 7 in 2013.

Ahead of WWDC next week, Apple has shared new data on the adoption rates of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. The company reports that iOS 18 is now installed on 88% of devices introduced in the last four years, while iPadOS 18 is installed on 81% of devices introduced in the same period.

Ahead of WWDC next week, Apple is out with a new report today touting how the App Store “helps developers reach new heights.” According to Apple, the global App Store “supported” $1.3 trillion in billings and sales in 2024.

This comes after Apple touted the $406 billion impact of the App Store in the United States alone last week.

We’re just one week away from WWDC 2025, which kicks off on Monday, June 9 with Apple’s keynote. Ahead of the festivities, Apple has started teasing WWDC25 with a new tagline: “Sleek peek.”

“A week of technology and creativity. All online and free,” Apple says.

According to a recent investor note from GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu, Apple might have a pair of surprises in store for the iPhone 17 lineup this fall. Most notably, Pu has seemingly changed his prediction that the entire iPhone 17 lineup will use a version of the A19 chip. Instead, he now believes the base model iPhone 17 will use the same A18 chip that’s used in the iPhone 16.

Apple has shared its third-ever App Store Transparency Report today. The report includes granular information on things like app removals and appeals, App Store user traffic, government takedown requests, and more.

Apple has big changes planned for the iPhone 17 lineup, headlined by the addition of the all-new iPhone 17 Air. Meanwhile, a new report today corroborates a change we can expect for the cheapest iPhone 17 model: a slightly larger screen.

A new Apple-funded study performed by Analysis Group says that the United States App Store “facilitated over $400 billion in developer billings and sales in 2024.” This marks 2.9x growth in the ecosystem since 2019, according to the study.

Yesterday, Bloomberg broke the news that this year’s software update for the Mac will be macOS 26 rather than macOS 16. The update is expected to bring a sweeping redesign to the Mac, and now we have the first rumors on which models will be able to update to macOS 26.

Apple is planning a huge shakeup to its naming scheme for software updates. Bloomberg reports that this year’s iOS update won’t be called iOS 19 after all. Instead, Apple is planning to call it “iOS 26” as part of a new year-based naming strategy.

Apple Card Savings Account has taken another hit to its interest rate as of today. Apple and Goldman Sachs have dropped the annual percentage yield from 3.75% to 3.65%, marking the second rate cut of 2025.

Last October, 9to5Mac exclusively reported that Apple was developing a dedicated app for video games that would exist separately from the App Store.

Bloomberg has now corroborated that report and says the app will launch as part of iOS 19 later this year.

Apple is expediting its plans to compete with Meta’s popular Ray-Ban smart glasses. Bloomberg reports today that Apple is now aiming to release smart glasses “at the end of next year.” Simultaneously, the company has dropped its plans to release an Apple Watch with a built-in camera.

WWDC invites have gone out, and Chance will be there in person. Spotify was one of the first companies to take advantage of recent changes to the App Store Guidelines. The company swiftly submitted a new version of its app with links that make it easier for users to subscribe to Spotify Premium using external payment methods.

In an amicus brief filed in support of Epic Games this week, Spotify touts that it has already seen a measurable increase in Premium subscription conversions thanks to these changes.

After a nearly five-year hiatus, Fortnite is back on the App Store for iPhone and iPad users in the United States. Epic Games announced the return of the battle royale gaming app this afternoon, and you can head to the App Store now to download it.

Fortnite is also back in the Epic Games Store and AltStore in the European Union.

Apple today officially announced CarPlay Ultra, the next generation version of CarPlay that it first teased way back at WWDC 2022.

CarPlay Ultra is rolling out starting today to Aston Martin owners in the United States and Canada. Apple today also revealed that three new automakers have signed on to support CarPlay Ultra in the future: Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis.

Apple today previewed a wide array of new accessibility features launching as part of iOS 19 this fall. As part of this broader announcement, Apple also detailed a pair of changes coming to CarPlay.

In a press release this morning, Apple announced its suite of new accessibility features coming to the iPhone later this year. This includes Accessibility Nutrition Labels on the App Store, a new Magnifier app for Mac, and more.

A new report from The Wall Street Journal (Apple News+ link) today dives deeper into another accessibility breakthrough Apple is developing: the ability to control your iPhone with your brain.

Ahead of WWDC kicking off in June, Apple today has officially unveiled this year’s new accessibility features for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. The features come as Apple celebrates 40 years of accessibility innovation, with the company originally opening its office of disability in 1985.

“At Apple, accessibility is part of our DNA,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said. “Making technology for everyone is a priority for all of us, and we’re proud of the innovations we’re sharing this year. That includes tools to help people access crucial information, explore the world around them, and do what they love.”

These features are destined for Apple’s forthcoming iOS 19 and macOS 16 updates, which will be announced at WWDC next month. Apple, however, does not specifically refer to “iOS 19’ prematurely. This year’s new accessibility features include Accessibility Nutrition Labels on the App Store, a new Magnifier app for Mac, major updates to Apple’s Personal Voice feature, and more.

Apple is launching a limited-time promotion in partnership with Nike. In an email today, the company revealed that Apple Card users can store 6% Daily Cash rewards on purchases at Nike through June 15.

Apple just released iOS 18.5 for iPhone users with several new features and changes. The company has now updated its security website to reveal that iOS 18.5 also fixes over 30 security vulnerabilities affecting things like Bluetooth, FaceTime, and more.

Spotify has announced a handful of updates rolling out to its music streaming service starting this week. Among the changes are improvements to queuing songs, customizing playlists, and more.

There’s one feature, however, that stands out most to me: Snooze.

While some companies, including Spotify, Amazon, and Patreon, have been quick to jump at the opportunity to add external payment links to their apps, Netflix is taking a slower approach.

Back in 2019, Apple announced a trio of new research studies, including the Apple Women’s Health Study in partnership with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the NIH’s National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.

Researchers have shared several updates in the years since the study began, including one this week.

The hits keep coming for Apple and its App Store policies. A new class-action lawsuit filed today alleges that Apple “penalized developers who sought to use linked payments with fees that rendered it economically non-viable.

The lawsuit follows an injunction handed down last week, in which Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers barred Apple from charging commission or otherwise interfering with developers’ ability to direct customers to payment methods outside of the App Store.

While some of the most anticipated Apple Intelligence features have yet to ship, Apple is ramping up its marketing of the ones that have. In a new video posted on YouTube, Apple goes in-depth on features like Genmoji, Image Playground, Clean Up in Photos, and more.

Apple CEO Tim Cook appeared virtually at a gathering of business executives this week to celebrate President Trump’s first 100 days in office. “I wanna take a moment to recognize President Trump’s focus on domestic semiconductor manufacturing, and we will continue to work with the administration as we invest in these areas,” Cook said during his pre-recorded comments.

Apple has officially approved the first app with links to external payment options in the United States. After submitting its update to Apple yesterday afternoon, Spotify says that Apple has approved a new version of the app that takes advantage of the latest changes to the App Store Guidelines.

Apple has officially updated the App Store Guidelines to comply with the injunction handed down yesterday in its legal case with Epic Games. According to the new App Store rules, “there is no prohibition on an app including buttons, external links, or other calls to action” in the United States.
