Photos of iPhone 18 Pro drop tests and other sensitive info hits the dark web

Last week, it transpired that Apple supplier Tata Electronics had been the subject of a data breach, with hundreds of gigabytes of files leaking online.

While the files include a lot of company-sensitive data, Reuters is reporting that Apple is particularly concerned right now as the documents include drop test photos of the iPhone 18 Pro, the upcoming model Apple will officially announce in early September.

Apple is ‘working tirelessly’ to find solutions to component shortage as it hikes prices across Mac, iPad and more

Apple just rolled out a slew of price increases across Mac, iPad, Apple TV, HomePod and more product lines.

Apple CEO Tim Cook warned this was coming a week ago, as component pricing for memory and storage hits unprecedented levels. In a statement to Bloomberg today, the company acknowledged “this is not welcome news” and is “working tirelessly to find solutions”.

iOS 27 beta 2 includes our first look at the new Write with Siri features, which replace the standalone Writings Tools feature introduced as part of the first wave of the iOS 18 Apple Intelligence rollout.

When editing text, the keyboard now prompts the user to write with Siri. This allows you to ask Siri using a natural language request to generate new text, proofread something you already wrote, rewrite a document into another style, and more.

John Ternus set to re-establish importance of Apple’s design team when he takes over as CEO: report

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman today posted the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, recapping the last ten years of Apple’s corporate structure in which the influence of the design team waned at the executive levels in the Cook era, fuelled by Jony Ive’s exit and talent departures as finance and operations had an increasingly larger say over product direction.

However, Gurman believes that incoming CEO John Ternus may be about to reset that relationship, and reaffirm the importance of the design group for the company’s future.

Apple will stream the next Formula 1 Grand Prix free for everyone

The next Formula 1 race will stream completely for free on the Apple TV app in the United States, no subscription required.

Most races this year require an Apple TV subscription to view, but when the deal was announced, Apple said that select races will be in front of the paywall altogether. The Austrian Grand Prix (June 26 – June 28) is the first time they are delivering on that promise.

Apple and Intel are working together to build chips in America, says President Trump

President Trump took to TruthSocial tonight to confirm what was previously rumored: Apple and Intel have agreed a partnership where Intel will manufacture chips for future Apple devices, using Intel’s American-based fabrication sites.

The breadth and depth of the agreement is unclear. It is unlikely that Intel will be able to supply the latest-generation chips for Apple’s highest-end iPhones, any time soon.

Apple announces Slow Horses season 6 release date and first look

Apple TV today announced the release date for the sixth season of its popular spy drama series Slow Horses, based on the books by Mick Herron. The show stars Gary Oldman as the leader of a ‘dumping ground’ division inside MI5 known for its blunders more than its successes.

Season 6 will premiere on September 16, with new episodes dropping weekly through October 21. The first look image featured above shows Oldman in his iconic form as Jackson Lamb.

iOS 27: Your iPhone can now boot into a new Mac-like recovery mode

iOS 27 introduces a new device recovery mode. This is a Mac-like recovery feature where the iPhone is able to boot into an alternative UI that doesn’t involve loading the entirety of the main operating system.

In the new recovery mode, you can use restore your software, enter diagnostics mode, erase the device, and perform some automated fixes using Recovery Assistant.

iOS 27: Here’s all the new Apple Music features

Apple Music has a few new features with iOS 27, which Apple just announced today at its annual WWDC conference.

Perhaps the most immediately visible change is a newly-redesigned artist page featuring prominent shuffle play button, new artist name display, and other smaller layout changes.

Apple today announced tvOS 27, the next major software version for Apple TV, as part of the WWDC keynote which included a bevy of platform-wide improvements.

One major new feature for tvOS this year is an updated Podcasts app, as well as a new smart downloads feature, performance enhancements including faster app launch and Control Center loading, larger text size options for accessibility, and more.

The new Siri won’t be available on iPhones in the EU, due to Digital Markets Act

The brand new iOS 27 Siri AI experiences will not be coming to users in the European Union at the same time as everyone else. In a company press release that directly blames the Digital Markets Act, Apple says iPhone and iPad users in the EU will have to wait longer for Siri AI.

However, Siri AI will still be launching on Mac and Apple Vision Pro in the EU, as those platforms are not subject to the same gatekeeper requirements …

Powered by new artificial intelligence models, Apple announced a significant improvement to Clean Up as well as new Extend and Reframe tools. These features will be available with iOS 27 and other software updates later this year.

We don’t know yet whether Apple will call it the iPhone Fold, iPhone Ultra, or something else — but everyone expects the company to announce its first foldable phone later this year. Via Sonny Dickson, these dummy unit photos give us our closest look yet at what we expect the design to be.

The foldable iPhone will feature an approximately 7.8-inch screen when unfolded, giving an effective inner screen area similar to an iPad mini. As shown by these dummy mockup models, the front-facing camera will be positioned in the top-left corner of this screen.

Apple Music shares what it is doing to ‘keep music fair’ in an AI world

The streaming service Apple Music today shared an open letter with music labels and industry partners entitled ‘What We’re Doing to Keep Music Fair’, reaffirming its commitment to help the music business navigate the use of AI responsibly.

The company said it believes technology should amplify artists, not replace them. Apple says AI music represents significantly less than 1% of all plays on the service, but it is being proactive to keep a fair, level playing field for all creators.
