Microsoft has a new idea on how to deter students from MacBook Neo

The effects of MacBook Neo continue to ripple through the PC industry this week.

As spotted by The Verge, Microsoft has introduced a new “Microsoft College Offer” initiative. Through this, college students in the US can score 12 months free of Microsoft 365 Premium and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate with the purchase of an eligible PC, plus a free custom Xbox controller.

It might be really hard to get an iPhone Fold at launch

A new report from Digitimes today says that production of Apple’s upcoming iPhone Fold has hit a roadblock. According to “sources within the company’s supply chain,” mass production of the device has slipped from July to August of this year.

Still, Apple is aiming to launch the iPhone Fold in 2026, as Bloomberg also reported last week … but it might be really hard to actually buy one.

Former AI boss John Giannandrea officially leaving Apple this week after ‘resting and vesting’

John Giannandrea’s time at Apple is officially coming to an end this week. Giannandrea joined Apple in 2018 after eight years at Google to head the company’s machine learning and AI strategy.

In December of last year, however, Apple announced that Giannandrea was stepping down from his position and would serve as an advisor to the company before fully departing in spring of 2026.

Studio Display XDR medical imaging feature gets FDA clearance [U: Now available]

Update April 7, 2026, 12 p.m. ET: The feature is now available for Mac users running macOS 26.4, as confirmed by Greg Joswiak.


When Apple announced the Studio Display XDR last month, it detailed a new Medical Imaging Calibrator feature for macOS to allow radiologists to view diagnostic images directly on the display.

That feature has now received FDA clearance. As such, Apple says that Medical Imaging Calibrator will be available this week to Studio Display XDR users in the United States.

Tim Cook explores rare iPod, iPhone prototypes in new interview [Video]

Apple’s 50th anniversary celebration continues, this time with a fascinating new video from The Wall Street Journal.

In the video, WSJ columnist Ben Cohen to takes a walk down memory lane alongside Tim Cook, including rare Apple prototypes and other archival material that even Cook himself had never seen before.

“A lot of this I’ve seen for the first time in preparing for the 50th anniversary,” Cook said.
