作者 Jeff Benjamin

The second iOS 26 beta, which just released today, contains a new asset featuring the iconic clownfish wallpaper that Apple included with the original iPhone, and last remastered back in 2022 with iOS 16. Review: CalDigit TS5 Plus Thunderbolt 5 dock – a supercharged version of the best dock for Mac [Video]

作者 Jeff Benjamin

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been over seven years since I first got my hands on CalDigit’s TS3 Plus dock, and during its heyday, I labeled it as the best dock for Mac users. Since then, CalDigit released the TS3’s successor, appropriately called the , which offered a refined take on its predecessor.

Now, with the advent of Thunderbolt 5 adoption for the latest M4 Pro Macs and higher, CalDigit is back with an even more powerful version of its TS-series dock – the CalDigit Thunderbolt Station 5 Plus, or TS5 Plus for short. Yes, CalDigit has retuned to its “plus” nomenclature of the past, as it plans to offer a less powerful 15-port version – simply dubbed CalDigit TS5 – in the future.

The TS5 Plus, of course, includes support for Thunderbolt 5, but is there any other reason why prospective buyers should consider it over the already great TS4? Perhaps! Advanced Data Protection – how it makes your iCloud data more secure [Video]

作者 Jeff Benjamin

By default, iCloud data is secure while in transit. This data is stored in an encrypted format, while the encryption keys are housed in Apple data centers. 15 particularly sensitive data types, like passwords, Health data, and Journal data, use end-to-end encryption as standard. This sensitive data is encrypted with keys derived from your devices and device passcode, which are only accessible by the end user, and thus this data remains secure even in the case of a data breach in the cloud.

Advanced Data Protection, which is opt-in, provides end-to-end encryption for 10 additional iCloud data categories like Photos, Notes, and Reminders, meaning that Apple no longer possesses the keys to decrypt these categories as well.

It’s been couple of years since Advanced Data Protection rolled out. Are you using it? If not, should you consider using it? In this full tutorial and video walkthrough, I discuss what Advanced Data Protection is, how to enable it, and best practices for protecting your precious data. iOS Decoded: iOS 18.3 beta 3 changes and features – the Notification Summary update [Video]
