MagSafe Monday: This budget wireless charger stays on my desk for a reason

作者 Bradley C

Over the years, I’ve tried a ton of chargers, but a lot of them fall into the category that they’re awkward to use, overpriced, or just not reliable. The one that’s managed to stay in my life is the It’s cheap, easy to use, and solves a simple problem I’ve encountered more times than I can count. I don’t want to use two hands when I need to grab my iPhone quickly from my desk.

When it comes to enterprise hardware, reliability and repairability have always been in tension. In 2025, Macs are more expensive to repair (and more difficult) than ever before, thanks to tighter integration, solid-state components, and the steady move to custom silicon. In my experience, those repairs are happening far less often, so it begs the question: Is that a problem?

HomeKit Weekly: Eve Aqua is still the easiest way to automate outdoor watering

作者 Bradley C

It’s that time of year again. The sun is shining, grass is growing, and flowers are blooming. Summer weather is here. Here in the South, we’ll go from weeks of rain to stretches where it’s 95 degrees with no clouds in sight. I’ve never wanted to mess with a professionally installed irrigation system. Too much maintenance. That’s why I’ve continued using the to handle outdoor watering without digging a hole or hiring anyone to install it.

Addigy’s Prebuilt App Catalog is built to simplify managing macOS apps at scale

作者 Bradley C

Most enterprise apps used on macOS don’t come from the Mac App Store, so IT teams are stuck managing them manually. That includes tracking down the latest versions, packaging them up for deployment, setting up the required permissions, and making sure they’re installed and updated properly across every device. It’s a tedious process that doesn’t scale well, and it introduces security risk when apps fall behind on security updates. Addigy aims to solve this by adding a new Prebuilt App Catalog, which is now available to all its device management system customers.

MagSafe Monday: The best gear to travel with this summer

作者 Bradley C

MagSafe for traveling is one of the best use cases. It keeps you from needing a ton of cables in your bag and makes it easy to keep your gear charged. The dream would be a MagSafe cable that worked on Mac, iPhone, and iPad, but life can’t be that simple. Nevertheless, a few MagSafe accessories are must-haves for your summer travel bag.

Apple’s move away from Intel to its own chips has ultimately unlocked new possibilities for businesses using Apple hardware in modern enterprise environments. One of the clearest examples of that potential is LambdaTest’s new partnership with MacStadium, which makes me wonder if there’s an opportunity for a new Xserve.

Mosyle announces AccessMule to solve a major blind spot in SMB security

作者 Bradley C

One of the most common blind spots in small business security is access management for various company resources. Today’s IT teams are moving fast (and often understaffed), solving customer problems, and juggling shifting responsibilities as the business grows and evolves. Many SMBs also don’t have a dedicated IT team. They might be fixing things by committee or just trusting that vendors have these problems solved. Behind the scenes, there’s usually little visibility into who still has access to which tools, accounts, or SaaS apps.

Managing Macs, iPads, and iPhones at scale continues to get easier as Apple continually addresses pain points year after year, but some parts of the job still feel more tedious than they should. For me, building configuration profiles is one of those tasks that I still sorta hate doing. It’s not overly complicated but can be time-consuming, especially when dealing with macOS app permissions and privacy settings. That’s where iMazing’s Profile Editor has been a Swiss Army knife tool for IT admins. With version 2, it became an even more useful tool for Apple IT admins.

HomeKit Weekly: Aqara’s W100 Climate Sensor brings precision monitoring and smart control to your HomeKit setup

作者 Bradley C

Last night, I had forgotten to take my upstairs off Eco mode, and I was shocked to see the difference in one of my son’s rooms based on my Nest Temperature Sensor. In my dream world, I’d have a variable system that could heat and cool rooms independently, but nevertheless, I didn’t buy bitcoin when it was $1, so I cannot afford that. With that being said, I do like having the knowledge of what’s happening in individual rooms and having that data in HomeKit. The new is a new way to do that with a built-in screen.

MagSafe Monday: ArmorGo Magnetic Wallet Stand adds a solid kickstand and RFID protection in a slim design

作者 Bradley C

MagSafe accessories continue to be a mix of great ideas and daily annoyances, but I keep trying them all. I’ve tried enough wallets to fill a drawer in my desk, and most of them get something right, but miss on a few minor things. Recently, I’ve been trying some new wallets that do more than hold credit cards. That’s what caught my eye with the , and I’ve been using it for the past few weeks.

WWDC has come and gone once again, and we have a lot to digest and test over the summer, but there are some notable enhancements for IT teams who manage Apple fleets coming this fall. The most important announcement, in my opinion, is a better way to move between device management vendors.

作者 Bradley C

Water damage is one of my biggest fears as a homeowner. With hardwood floors throughout my house, even a small leak could turn into a massive repair bill and a huge inconvenience. A slow drip from a sink can quickly become thousands of dollars in damage for your floors and cabinets. Thankfully, with a , you can catch leaks early and avoid a major headache. The FIBARO water leak sensor is one of my oldest HomeKit devices I am using, but it still works great.
