我心中的最佳的五部中国大陆电影分别是：陈凯歌《霸王别姬》(1993)、张艺谋《活着》(1994)、姜文《阳光灿烂的日子》(1994)、黄建新《背靠背，脸对脸》(1994)、田壮壮《蓝风筝》(1993)。这五部电影里有三部是1994年的，两部是1993年的，预示着中国电影曾经有过的那短短几年的文艺复兴时期。
一、陈凯歌《霸王别姬》(1993)
我看陈凯歌的第一部电影就是《霸王别姬》。这是一个凄美的爱情故事，程蝶衣是一个近乎完美的角色，为戏而生，为情而死。而后的几十年表现的则是面对动乱时代而扭曲的脆弱的人性。一切表达的都是“人生如戏”这种思想。
历史本来就是一个迷人的风景线，特别是二十世纪那纷乱迷离的时代。戏剧其实可以看作一个比喻，比喻有着几千年历史沉积的中华文化，在几千年来每一个时代，无论是清朝，北洋军阀，日本人，国民政府等等，都无不对古老的文明艺术有着内在的尊重和融合。中华文化以其独特的方式深刻地影响着每一个人。
然而，中华文明的历史却在某一点发生了质变，解放军进驻北京、以程蝶衣、段小楼及张公公同在的画面宣告了既往的历史已失去了它的绵延、被压缩为一个平面；以“永恒的”袁四爷被正法预示了历史断裂的发生，一个非人的、赤裸而狰狞的时代终于开始了。
狂热的政治运动最终毁掉了艺人们心中永恒而美好的艺术，“是人就要看”的国粹京剧终于走向了灭亡，然而真正可怕的是，悔掉的不仅仅是艺术家们的艺术，还有整个几千年的古老文化。故事的结尾，程蝶衣仰天长叹，京剧的灭亡是报应的时候，我想，或许文化和人生一样，最终的宿命就是灭亡。
二、张艺谋《活着》(1994)
这是我印象中张艺谋唯一的一部被禁演的电影。张艺谋以极其朴实的导演手法，表现了原著的主旨，也完成了他自己对人生的一种感悟——活着的艰难。在中国漫长动荡历史和各种各样政治事件中，能够活着并坚强地面对，是多么艰难而痛苦的事情啊。能够活下去，对于中国人来说，就是一种胜利。
三、姜文《阳光灿烂的日子》(1994)
姜文拍的第一部电影，改编自王朔的小说，《阳光灿烂的日子》拍了一代人（60后大院子弟）的成长经历，虽然时代已经久远，那一代人已经年长，但从电影里还是能体会到那一代人灿烂美丽的青春和无拘无束的自由，任何年代的青春和自由都是美好的。
影片从孩子们的视角透视了一个大时代中国社会的剧烈变化，也反映了一代人的迷茫、幻想及懵懵懂懂的爱情。镜头的运镜，色彩的渲染，真实与梦境的切换，让影片的风格非常唯美，或许，曾经灿烂的青春和无拘无束的自由，都只是一场南柯一梦而已。
四、黄建新《背靠背，脸对脸》(1994)
影片根据刘醒龙小说《秋风醉了》改编，讲述了九十年代的一个文化馆馆长的官场沉浮和家庭生活，把一个小小的文化馆里面的人情世故和权力斗争展现的淋漓尽致，生动有趣，简直是上世纪九十年代中国官场权力斗争的活话剧。
影片的男主角文化馆副馆长，虽然他尽忠职守多年，做事都亲力亲为，但始终得不到应有的回报，最终他明白了，在这个体制内，无论他怎么努力，无论他怎么付出，都难以得到应有的回报，于是只好彻底躺平了。
影片对于官场斗争的细节描述非常到位，例如，做为副馆长的二把手，如果对于“夺权”表现的过于积极，那么反而可能会弄巧成拙，在权力博弈中竹篮打水一场空。
黄建新1994年的《背靠背，脸对脸》与1992年的《站直啰！别趴下》、1995年的《红灯停，绿灯行》合称“都市百态三部曲”。
五、田壮壮《蓝风筝》(1993)
影片从一个1953年出生的小孩子“铁头”的眼里，展现了1953年至1967年的几次政治运动对人们生活和思想的影响，被时代裹挟着前行的普通人，在各种运动中的不同遭遇，其中最倒霉的是铁头的爸爸，因为开会时候去上了一个厕所，回来就成了右派，影片通过平实的手法记录了不同历史时期的真实生活和社会，仅仅是这样记录生活，也非常令人震撼，看后心情会很沉重，让人感觉非常悲观，或许，更积极的态度是，如何避免未来人们再次面对这样的命运。
