Back in January 2007, Apple released its first version of the Airport Extreme. It was a wireless router that supported 802.11n of Wi-Fi and could be used as a print and storage server as well. But then in 2016, we saw Apple’s last version of the AirPort extreme, and it was fully off the shelves by 2018. Now, five years later, it seems like the only thing missing from Apple’s ideal HomeKit network would be a new AirPort router that uses things like HomePods as mesh points.
