One of the big changes in iOS 17 for CarPlay users is the addition of SharePlay support for Apple Music. This feature allows anyone in the car to control and contribute to what’s playing via Apple Music, rather than just one person.
I took SharePlay for Apple Music in iOS 17 for a recent drive. My takeaway? This is going to be a very, very fun feature.

Two years ago, Apple announced a number of new child safety features, including a system that would use on-device processing to scan for child sexual abuse materials. Despite the privacy-focused implementation of the feature, Apple faced enough backlash for the feature that it ended up abandoning its plans.
Now, Apple finds itself in the position of facing renewed pressure from advocacy groups and activist investors to take better action against CSAM.

I’ve been using Umbrel at home for the last year and a half. Previously, I used a Raspberry Pi 4 to power my Umbrel server, but I recently upgraded to the new Umbrel Home, which includes everything prebuilt and ready to go. 2023 has been the year when I’ve really been thinking hard about where my data is, which companies have access to it, and how I can better control my costs. The price of Apple’s MLS Season Pass has dropped again, reflecting the fact we are approaching the final stretch of the 2023 season. It is now just $29 to subscribe for the rest of the year, or a discounted $25 rate for Apple TV+ subscribers.

The decision to upgrade to the new iPhone each year can feel torturous. Replacing a perfectly fine iPhone with one that’s better in one or two ways can feel like some kind of moral failure.
To be clear, it’s not that any one person or force makes me feel bad about upgrading. Nevertheless, I question whether or not I’ll upgrade each year before buying the new thing as soon as it can be physically obtained.
