The 2021 MacBook Pro and the 2019 Pro Display XDR have displays that can go up to 1,600 nits of brightness, but, by default, these levels can only be reached when watching HDR videos. Usually, users can get around 500 nits of brightness, but Vivid, a new app by developer Jordi Bruin, can double the usable display brightness.
